Glass Strap

Our purpose is to provide the hobbyist and trade professional with a comprehensive range of decorative glass materials, tools, equipment and books, to enable them to complete their glass artworks.

Sheet glass is split into various categories.
Opalescent glass with a milky, marbled background, mainly for lamps; cathedral glass that you can see through for windows, and fused glass for kiln fusing. These glasses are split according to the factories that produce them as often they specialise in one of the above categories.

Essentially there are three techniques to making decorative items.
The "Tiffany technique" which makes windows and lamps by wrapping individual glass pieces with copper foil and soldering on the seams.
The leaded technique uses H-section lead came into which the cut pieces of glass are trapped by soldering individual joints together. This gives a bolder, heavier look, as used in most old English stained glass windows and is particularly good with geometric designs.
Fused glass does not need joining system as different colours of glass are fused together on top of each other, the main difference for this technique is that a kiln is necessary.

The catalogue index covers all the techniques and gives information on all the items required.
